CHESTERVILLE — Prior to voting on the proposed 2013 program plans at a recent meeting, the North Chesterville Extension Homemakers discussed some upcoming events that will finish out 2012.
The town Halloween party the Extension is sponsoring will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, in the Chesterville Town Office. Member Glenda Barker is in charge of organizing the event.
There will be a regular business meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, in the Chesterville Town Office to make sure everything is ready for the November outing and December events.
Members extended an invitation to the advisory board to join them for the Saturday, Nov. 17, trip to Nowetah’s Native American Museum and Gift Shop in New Portland. The car pool will leave Sue’s house at 9:45 a.m. Others will meet at Nowetah’s at 10:30.
The Christmas party will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11. At the last meeting, members set the Chesterville town Christmas party for 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at in the Chesterville Town Office. There will be a gift table for children to pick a gift for their parents and have it wrapped. Donations are welcome. Also planned are a visit from Santa, cookie decorating, stories, songs, a craft table and food.
The election of officers for 1013 was as follows: president, Susan Gill; vice president, Linda Brown; treasurer, Susan Starrett; secretary, Linda Gramlich; and co-advisory board representatives, Linda Gramlich and Linda Brown.
After some discussion on the current meeting night of the third Tuesday of the month, it was decided to try changing it to the third Thursday of the month in hope more people would be able to attend. If it doesn’t work, members will change it back. Now meetings will be held at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month in the Chesterville Town Office unless otherwise noted.
Suggestions for 2013 resulted in the following programs being planned: Jan. 17, planning for free senior citizens luncheon, Glenda Barker; Feb. 21, Safety Issues with Tom White, Sue Gill; March 21, A Matter of Balance, Linda B. and Linda G.; April 18, England (with food too), Linda G. to organize food; May 16, plan for bake sale, Sue Gill and Linda G.
Also, June 1, English Tea, car pool to Phillips, Linda G. to contact Suzi Hunnisett-Reed; Sept. 26, Rotary Christmas tree ornament, TBA; Oct.r 17, 2014 program planning, election of officers, collection of dues, Sue Gill; Nov. 21, business meeting, plan for town Christmas party, yearly donations, Sue Gill, Glenda Barker and Sue Starrett; and Dec. 12, annual Christmas party, TBA.
