In the upcoming November election, Question 2 is one of four bond questions voters are going to be asked to consider when completing ballots.

I am supporting it because it makes wise, targeted investments in things that are fundamentally important to the economic health of this region and state — education, and building, creating and protecting Maine jobs.

In Auburn, Question 2 will make needed investments at Central Maine Community College. Bond proceeds will be used to expand the college’s precision machining, graphic communications and business programs. In addition, they will help support the construction of a new building that will house science labs for the college’s current and expanding allied health programs.

In all, Question 2 invests $3 million in the state’s community colleges which will increase their capacity to meet strong student and employer demand for occupational training that ensures a highly skilled and adaptable Maine workforce. Last year, Maine’s community colleges were unable to fully serve more than 4,000 qualified applicants because of a lack of capacity. We can do better in meeting the needs of students and the economy.

In a nutshell, Question 2 will build, create and protect Maine jobs. It is worth support.
