FARMINGTON — Two drivers received minor injuries in a chain-reaction crash on the Wilton Road in West Farmington at about 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Police Sgt. Michael Adcock said Maria Logan, 55, of Freeman was distracted while driving her 2005 Toyota Highlander west on Wilton. Her SUV slammed into the back of a stopped 2003 Ford Escape driven by Katherine Tranten, 23, of Weld. Tranten’s SUV struck the back of a stopped 2005 Ford Freestyle van driven by Darlene Frost, 45, of Jay, he said.

Frost, who was stopped to turn left into Harris Real Estate, said she looked in her rearview mirror, saw Tranten’s face and tried to drive forward to avoid the collision.

Logan and Tranten were checked at the scene by NorthStar Ambulance medics and declined transport to the hospital.

Logan was issued a summons on a charge of failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle, Adcock said.

Frost’s van received minimal damage; Logan’s and Tranten’s were towed.

Farmington Fire and Rescue cleaned up the debris and directed traffic.
