MANNHEIM, Germany — Gary D. Gauthier, 49, died Oct. 27, in Mannheim, Germany, with his wife by his side, after a long battle with spinal cancer.

He was born in Naugatuck, Conn., Nov. 1, 1962, the son of Rosaire and Lucia (Nadeau) Gauthier. He enjoyed fishing with friends and tournament dart teams.

He served in the U.S. Army and worked for ITT. He handled U.S. Army contracts for satellite dish installations.

He is survived by wife, Ute Gauthier; daughter, Denise Gauthier and husband, Daniel (Kapunkt); sisters, Diane Seymour and husband, Ray, Jacksonville, Ill., Nancy Gauthier, Biddeford, Shirley Daigle and husband, Robert, Lewiston and Sharon Higgins and husband, Terry, Kirkland, Ontario, Canada; and brother, Robert Gauthier, Orlando, Fla. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and relatives in the Lewiston area.

He was predeceased by paternal grandparents, Alfred and Felixine Gauthier; maternal grandparents, Philip and Irene Nadeau; and sister, Donna Gauthier.
