KENTS HILL— Grammy-winning singer-songwriter and Americana Music Association Lifetime Achievement Award winner Nanci Griffith will appear in concert on Saturday, Nov. 10, at Kents Hill School.

She will take the Center for the Performing Arts stage at Newton Hall at 8 p.m.

Straddling the fine line between folk and country music, Griffith has become as well-known for her confessional songwriting as her voice. With a wide-ranging songbook, she brings songs such as “Love at the Five and Dime,” “Lone Star State of Mind,” “Boots of Spanish Leather” and “The Flyer” to audiences around the world.

Griffith won the 1994 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album for “Other Voices, Other Rooms.” In 2008, she received the Americana Trailblazer Award from the Americana Music Association.

Her latest album, “Intersection,” was released in April. “It’s emotional for me, and it’s personal, and it makes my heart pound, thinking I’m going to be totally exposed here,” Griffith states on her website. ” ‘Intersection’ is not an album of resolution or closure; it’s an album about difficulties, about anger, about things that slip away and things that explode.”

The Aleigh Mills Concert Series at Kents Hill School was developed by Jamie Isaacson, co-founder of the North Atlantic Blues Festival. It supports the Aleigh Mills Scholarship Fund, established by Tim and Donna Mills in memory of their daughter, a member of Kents Hill School’s class of 2006 known for her outgoing nature, concern for others and generous spirit.

Griffith joins an illustrious roster of artists to perform at Kents Hill, including Greg Brown, Arlo Guthrie, Judy Collins, Shemekia Copeland and Shawn Colvin.
