Three former presidents of the Lewiston-Auburn Chamber of Commerce now living out of the community will attend the 75th anniversary celebration of the organization which takes place Nov. 15 at the Dewitt Hotel. They are Irving Lohnes of Waterville, John Scully of Portland and Francis Benson of Wallingford, Conn. Benson was manager of Lincoln’s Store, and Scully was a former local agent for the Maine Central Railroad.

An updated ordinance governing street excavations received initial approval by the Auburn City Council Monday, but councilors decided more fine-tuning is needed. Roger Hebert, 364 Turner St., said he wants Northern Utilities Inc. to install a gas service to his house but has been denied because the road was last paved in 1984. A clause forbids excavating streets that have been paved within five years.
