RUMFORD — Local writers will meet Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the Public Library to share their stories.
The Rumford Writers Group will meet at 6:30 p.m., Brenda Espinoza, resident in charge of the group, said. Meetings usually last until 8:30 p.m. but could go longer.
“A lot of times, depending on how many people show up, we go way past 8:30 p.m.,” she said.
The group is for “serious writers only,” she said. “We’re not looking for beginners looking to improve their writing. The group is for serious writers of all genres who are looking to share their stories and provide constructive criticism.”
Espinoza said writers usually bring a chapter of a story they’re working on, share it with the group, and each person shares their thoughts about it.
The Rumford Writers Group was created by Espinoza in 2009 following her graduation from the University of Maine at Farmington with a bachelor of arts degree in creative writing. Espinoza said after she graduated, she learned that there was a group in town charging $20 for writing workshops, which prompted her to form her own group where participants could attend free of charge.
