LEWISTON — Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Barbara Walsh will discuss her book, “August Gale: A Father and Daughter’s Journey into the Storm,” on Thursday, Nov. 15, at the University of Southern Maine’s Lewiston-Auburn College.

Walsh is also the author of “Sammy in the Sky,” a children’s book illustrated by painter Jamie Wyeth. 

In “August Gale,” she delves into the story of a deadly Newfoundland hurricane and the lives of schooner fishermen who relied on God and the wind to carry them home. She also explores the many secrets of a grandfather who remained a mystery until long after his death.

The free event will be at 6 p.m. in room 187 at the college, 51 Westminster St.
