CARTHAGE — New England Celtic Arts will host the award-winning Irish band RUNA at Skye Theatre Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, Nov. 14.

The high-energy contemporary band will also perform on Thursday Nov. 15, at Unity College’s Center for the Performing Arts in Unity.

RUNA draws on the diverse musical backgrounds of its band members and blends traditional and more recently composed Celtic material. The ensemble’s repertoire also features music from Ireland, Scotland, Canada and the United States.

Making up the band are vocalist Shannon Lambert-Ryan of Philadelphia, Dublin-born guitarist Fionan de Barra, percussionist Cheryl Prashker of Canada, fiddler Tomoko Omura of Japan and multi-instrumentalist/vocalist/dancer Dave Curley, a native of Galway.

Members of RUNA have played with Solas, Riverdance, Slide, Clannad, Fiddlers’ Bid, Moya Brennan, Eileen Ivers, Hazel O’Conner, Full Frontal Folk and Keith & Kristyn Getty.

RUNA won several awards at the 2010 Montgomery Buck Music Awards, including Best Entertaining Band, Best Folk Artist, Best Female Vocalist and Best Album (“Jealousy”). The band released its second album, “Stretched On Your Grave,” in March.

The show will be at 7 p.m. at Skye Theatre, 3 miles west of East Dixfield village at 2 Highland Drive; and 7:30 at UCCPA, 42 Depot St., Unity. For tickets, $15 at the door, call Skye at 562-4445 or UCCPA at 948-7469.
