MONMOUTH — Monmouth Community Players will hold auditions for its production of “Steel Magnolias” at 6:30 p.m. Sunday and Monday, Nov. 11-12, at Cumston Hall.

In Chinquapin, La., all the ladies who are “anybody” have their hair done at Truvy’s Beauty Salon. Helped by her eager new assistant, she dispenses shampoos and free advice to the town’s rich curmudgeon, an eccentric millionaire and the local social leader, whose daughter, Shelby, is about to marry a “good ole boy.”

When tragedy strikes, the women of Chinquapin come together to support each other in the only way they know how — through humor and love.

The show, directed by Adam P. Blais, includes these roles: Truvy Jones, age 30-45; Annelle Dupuy-Desota, 18-25;  Clairee Belcher, 50-70; Shelby Eatenton-Latcherie, age: 18-21; and M’Lynn Eaton, age 40 to 55.

“Steel Magnolias” will be presented at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 1-2 and 8-9; and 2 p.m. Feb. 3 and 10 at Cumston Hall, 796 Main St. Auditioners should use lower level, rear entrance.
