FARMINGTON — Franklin Community Health Network is inviting all interested community members to join its family of volunteers. Whether one has two hours a month or two hours a week, FCHN will do its best to match interests and skills to the opportunities available, according to a news release.

Volunteers perform myriad tasks that assist staff in providing care and services including: operating the patient hospitality care, staffing the hospital’s gift shop, stocking supplies, delivering mail, parking patient cars, assisting families and visitors in finding their way, typing, filing, and answering phones, among others.

“The volunteers at Franklin Community Health Network range in age from age 16–70-plus. They donate their time and talents day after day with energy, enthusiasm and commitment that is inspirational,” said Jodi Cordes, employee and volunteer services administrator. “The services volunteers provide complement the care given by our staff and we consider them part of our staff.”

Besides getting personal satisfaction and meeting new friends, volunteers receive other benefits from their experiences including skills training, gift shop discounts, meal privileges and free flu shots.

In addition, each year a volunteer recognition event takes place that includes dinner, entertainment and gifts in recognition of their efforts, as well as service bars and pins.

Overall, FCHN has approximately 200 volunteers who contribute more than 28,000 hours of service each year.
