Democrat Lisa Renee Villa defeated Republican Roxanna Hagerman, 2,796 to 2,317 for the seat of outgoing Republican Rep. G. Paul Waterhouse in House District 98.

Hagerman, 59, of Bridgton, a member of the Bridgton Planning Board and a small-business owner, campaigned on a pledge to address the “burdensome regulations and high taxes that have crippled Maine’s job market and economy,” and “would like to see a full audit of Maine’s entitlement system.”

Villa, 47, of Harrison, who has served on a number of local quasi-governmental associations, campaigned on a pledge to work to reduce the cost of energy, promote the use of technology to streamline permit application processes and make it easier to start a new business in Maine.

Neither used Clean Election funds.
