LEWISTON – The primary support for the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society, 55 Strawberry Ave., comes from fundraising events and donations of concerned citizens. Items recently donated to the shelter will help with the care of the thousands of unwanted animals the Humane Society helps each year.
On Aug. 6, Ian Fuller of Winthrop presented GAHS with the donations from his 6th birthday party. Ian, a kindergarten student at Winthrop Grade School, asked for donations for the pets in lieu of birthday gifts. Party guests generously donated pet food, treats, toys and cat litter.
On Aug. 13, Kelsey Randall of New Gloucester presented the donations from her 12th birthday party. Kelsey, a seventh-grade student at Gray-New Gloucester Middle School, received pet food, treats and blankets in lieu of birthday gifts.
On July 7, Madison Post of Gray donated pet food, treats, toys and cat litter received at her 11th birthday party. Madison is a sixth-grade student at Gray-New Gloucester Middle School.
On Sept. 11, Alexandra Hawksley of Turner presented the shelter with the donations from her 10th birthday party. Alexandra, a fifth-grade student at Turner Elementary School, asked for donations in lieu of birthday gifts. Party guests donated pet food, treats and funds.
On Sept. 24, Michelle Cowie, a fourth-grade student at Washburn Elementary School, Auburn, presented donations from her 10th birthday party. Party guests generously donated pet food, treats and funds.
On Oct. 4, Alexis Gatto of Auburn presented GAHS with the donations from her 12th birthday party. Alexis, a seventh grader at Auburn Middle School, asked for donations in lieu of birthday gifts. Guests donated pet food, treats, litter and toys.
