LIVERMORE FALLS — Selectmen approved the purchase of equipment costing $4,128 to make repairs to the town wastewater treatment plant.

The board had voted to go into executive session to discuss a poverty abatement request on Monday night when treatment plant Superintendent Greg Given brought the information to Town Manager Kristal Flagg.

Selectmen decided to reopen their public meeting to discuss the repairs since the next selectmen’s meeting is not until Monday, Nov. 26.

The board voted to buy three drive controls at a cost of $1,372 each. The controls set the motors at a certain speed and three are wearing out, Given said.

Jay will be responsible to pay 54 percent of the cost and Livermore Falls, 46 percent. The two share the cost of the operation and maintenance of the plant based on the flow of sewage treated at the plant.

Flagg said Jay is OK with the purchase.
