PARIS — Two Jay men pleaded not guilty in Oxford County Superior Court on Tuesday to robbing the Big Apple convenience store in Canton and other charges.
Edward Barbioni Jr., 30, and Alexander Ryerson, 20, were arrested in May on charges that they robbed the store on Route 140 with a handgun on May 20. Police say they took cash and a carton of cigarettes.
Barbioni faces one charge of robbery. Ryerson is charged with robbery, theft by unauthorized taking and violation of condition of release.
Bail conditions prevent the two from having contact with one another or from entering any Big Apple store.
On May 26, Jay police, Oxford County sheriff’s deputies and the Maine State Police Tactical Team surrounded a three-story apartment building at 77 Knapp St. in Jay where the two were arrested.
On Tuesday, Assistant District Attorney Joseph O’Connor said Ryerson also had charges pending in Franklin County.
