WALLINGFORD, Conn. — Robert R. Martin, 83, of Wallingford, Conn., beloved husband of Isabella McCreath Martin, passed away peacefully, Thursday, Nov. 1, at the Masonicare Health Center in Wallingford.
Robert was born in Lewiston, Sept. 28, 1929, a son of the late Albert Martin and Emma Roy Martin and was a graduate of Lewiston High School. He worked at the Poland Spring Resort and left Maine at the age of 17 for a job in Atlantic City. He later returned to Maine and joined the National Guard, until joining the U.S. Navy serving for 4 years.
Bob later settled in Wallingford, and worked for Cyanamid for 32 years. After his retirement, Bob volunteered at the Wallingford Senior Center for 20 years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, The Italian Club, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Wallingford. Bob and Bella enjoyed the winters in Lakeland, Fla., for the last 18 years.
In addition to his wife, Isabella, he is survived by two sisters, Monita Buteau and her husband, Charles and Joanne Sampson and her husband, Maurice, all of Lewiston; his sisters-in-law, Helen Coulter of Wallingford and Rebecca McCully of Meriden, Conn.; and several nieces and nephews, including his special niece, Michelle Ann McCully.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Albert Jr., Richard and Michael; and his sisters, Priscilla Farrand and Lorraine Federico.
