Cub Scouts hunters supper

WEST PARIS — West Paris Cub Scouts Pack 133 will hold a hunters supper from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at Agnes Gray School, 170 Main St.

Adults, $8; children 5 to 12 years old, $5; 5 and under free. Menu includes spaghetti, chili, salad and desserts.

Guest speakers will be a Maine Game Warden and a Maine author/ retired Game Warden, Randall Probert.

Veterans’ Day special service

PARIS — A special Veterans’ Day service will be held at the First Universalist Church on Pine Street at 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11.

The guest speaker is Sarah Glynn, Esq. Glynn is a former member of the United States Navy and is currently commander of the Foster-Carroll American Legion Post of South Paris. All veterans are invited to come and hear what Glynn has to say as well as be recognized for their service to the country.

The church is wheelchair accessible. The music will be under the direction of Linda Stowell and Sunday School under the direction of Renee Wales. Coffee and fellowship will follow the worship service and childcare is available. All are welcome.

Bridge Club winners named

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners at the Lewiston Armory on Nov. 5 were as follows: first, Dick Allen and Pete Cummings; second, Jan Arey and Linda Leotsakos; third, Cynthia and Bill Clifford; fourth, Ellie and George Wigton; first in B, Cynthia and Bill Clifford; second, Ellie and George Wigton.

The club celebrated Sue Kaluzynski’s 95th birthday. Sue drives from Monmouth and she has been a regular bridge player on Mondays and Tuesdays for many years.

Winners on Nov. 6 were: first, Patricia Garcia and David Lock; second, Luke Merry and Mike Quinn; third/fourth tie, Anna Vitiello and Rosemarie Goodwin with Mike True and Paul Sherman.

Games are played every Monday and Tuesday at 9 a.m. in the Seniors’ Room at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave. No game will be played on Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 12.

Free supper on Nov. 15

NORWAY — A free supper will be held at Second Congregational Church on Main Street from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15.

Chicken pie supper is Nov. 15

WEST PARIS — The First Universalist Church of West Paris annual Chicken Pie Supper will take place on Thursday, Nov. 15, at 5:30 p.m. Tickets will go on sale at 4:30 p.m. Crafts and cookbooks will be on sale in the Ladies’ Parlor.

The cost will remain the same as last year: $8 for adults and children 12 and over; $3 for children 11 and under. The menu will be the same as always: the now famous homemade chicken pies, mashed potatoes, peas, squash, cranberry sauce, dessert pies, coffee, tea, punch and water.

Children’s author at Norway Library

NORWAY — On Friday, Nov. 16, the Norway Memorial Library Children’s Room is hosting a special program at 3:30 pm. Children and young at heart alike are invited to meet Brenda Reeves Sturgis, author of the picture book “Ten Turkeys in the Road.” She will be reading her book and talking turkey. Free and open to the public.

Music for a Sunday Afternoon

PARIS — Music for a Sunday Afternoon concert at the First Universalist Church on Pine Street will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18. 

There will be organ, piano, flute, drums, guitar and voice. Music from “The Sound of Music,” “Dr. Zhivago,” folk songs, pop songs and some spiritual music will be on the program. Refreshments will follow the concert.

All are invited at no charge, but a free-will donation will be accepted at the door. The church is wheelchair accessible.
