ORRINGTON — Authorities say four bodies have been removed from the scene of a house fire Saturday morning.

Steve McCausland of the Maine Public Safety Department says the bodies are those of a man and three children, and the state medical examiner is at the scene to assist in removing the bodies.

Their identities were not released

McCausland says the mother of the children who perished in the fire Saturday morning escaped the blaze and was taken to a hospital.

Investigators from the state fire marshal’s office are at the scene on Dow Road in the Penobscot County town.
