To encourage the study of music and to bring musical talent to this city, a new choral society was organized Sunday in Lewiston when a large number of men gathered at rooms of the Musical Literary Club and chose the name of “Franco-American Orpheon.” Already the society has a membership of about 40 and this will be increased. It is also proposed to interest in the movement a number of well-known business and professional men, who will form an honorary membership and give financial backing to the society, receiving in return special privileges not accorded to the public.

Lewiston Post Office and municipal officials today dedicated the new Post Office in South Lewiston, located at the Bonneau Shopping Center on Lisbon Street. The new postal service center will open officially Tuesday, according to Postmaster Roger Albert. He pointed out that the first official action taken to get a sub-post office for South Lewiston was taken when Mayor Boisvert, now a state senator, wrote then Cong. Frank M. Coffin asking that consideration be given to the opening of a post office in that section of Lewiston.

Seniors at Lewiston High School will have the option of traveling to London and Paris for their annual class trip this year. The Lewiston School Committee Monday night approved a 9-day “Tale of Two Cities” trip to the two European cities for approximately 35 Lewiston high School students. Billed as a “study tour,” the trip is being organized by EF Educational Tours of Cambridge, Mass. The $810 cost for each student includes airfare, transportation, tours, accommodations and breakfast and dinner.
