LEWISTON — Andre J. Rodrigue, 80, of 76 Morris Ave., Lewiston, died unexpectedly Nov. 10, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Chartierville, P.Q., Canada, March 11, 1932, the son of Joseph and Ludivine (Lapierre) Rodrigue and had resided in Lewiston for most of his life.

Prior to his service to his country, he worked at Palmer Construction and for Lionel Poirier Construction from 1950 to 1952 as a landscaper.

He then met Doris Levasseur and they married on Nov. 15, 1952. She died on June 10.

Soon after their marriage, Andre was called to serve his country in the U.S. Army, Dec. 3, 1952, during the Korean Conflict, with the 25th Infantry Division. He also served during the Vietnam Conflict and retired from active duty after 20 years of service.

He then went to work for the Lewiston Water Division for two years and later for BIW as a rigger for 16 years until his retirement.

He was a member of Holy Family Church, the VFW Post 9459, American legion Post 153, ACME Club, 20M Club, United Bikers of Maine and was a lifetime member of Harley Owners Group.

He really enjoyed riding his motorcycle, trout fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his sons, Ronald and companion, Marie Stevens and Marc and wife, Patricia; his grandchildren, Andy, Tommy, Milene, Shane, James and Michelle; his great-grandchildren, Aizik, Dezarae, Bryce and Dylan; his daughter-in-law, Theresa Fortin; and his sisters, Andrea, Jeannine, Helene, Henriette and Veronique.

Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Francois, Omer, Alberic and Luc; and his sisters, Maria, Aurea and Monique.
