LEWISTON — Lucille M. Guerette, 88, a resident of the Niles Road in Sabattus, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Central Maine Medical Center, following a short illness, with her family by her side.

She was born in Van Buren, Jan. 7, 1924, the daughter of Benjamin and Agnes (Cyr) Levasseur.

In her early years, Lucille taught for a brief time in her hometown of Van Buren then moved to Hartford, Conn., where she met her husband, Elden, whom she married Oct. 31, 1953. While in Connecticut, they raised their family and then returned to Maine, where both she and her husband founded Elco Precision Machining here in Lewiston.

She was most proud of her family and enjoyed hosting family gatherings and was known by all as “A Special Lady.”

Survivors include two sons, Daniel Guerette and wife, Lori, of Sabattus and Joel Guerette and wife, Linda, of Wales; one daughter, Claire Surette and husband, Dan, of Sabattus; one brother, Bertrand Levasseur of Van Buren; also surviving are six grandchildren, Christine and Stephen Guerette, Jason and Ethan Guerette and Brooke and Adelle Surette; as well as many nieces and nephews. Lucille was also expecting her first great-grandchild in June.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Elden; three brothers, Antonio, Raymond and Robert; as well as three sisters, Mamie Levasseur, Ida Laroche, and her twin sister, Cecile Lavoie.

The family would like to thank the caring staff of Eliot House at Marshwood Center for their compassionate care as well as a very special thanks to Dr. Ned Claxton for his many years of exceptional care given to Lucille.
