AUBURN — Samuel E. Thomas Sr., 68, of Poland, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, at the Hospice House.
He was born in Lewiston, June 30, 1944, the son of Samuel H. and Amy Elaine Wight Thomas. He married Beverly Jipson, May 11, 1963. He had been a woodworker, refinishing furniture for a good part of his life.
He was a member of the Grace Fellowship Church. He enjoyed listening to his police scanner and watching NASCAR.
He was an avid woodworker and loved spending time with his family and his kitty, Scooter. He enjoyed listening to Elvis and the oldies.
He is survived by his wife of Poland; his sons, Sam Thomas Jr. and his wife, Darlene and Larry and his wife, Diane; a daughter, Elaine Verrill and her husband, Bill; nine grandchildren, Zak, Josh, Lance, Sammy III, Meagan, McKenzie, Shawn, Morgan and Evan; a sister, Diana and her husband, Dan; brother-in-law, Arnold Jipson and his wife, Florence; sister-in-law, Charlene Toussaint and her husband, Russell; brother-in-law, Kelvin Jipson and his wife, Debbie; sister-in-law, Arline Keough; brother-in-law, Asa Jipson and his wife, Heather; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Bob May, Vie Goodwin, Raymond Stuart and many others.
He was predeceased by his parents; a brother-in-law, Carroll Jipson; mother and father-in-law, Madora and Wallace Jipson; an aunt, Marilyne Dow; an uncle Cliff Dow; and lifelong friend, Roger Girardin.
