FARMINGTON — Police arrested two New Sharon men on a charge of burglary Thursday and returned stolen items to Bouffard’s Furniture.

Tools and furniture valued at more than $2,000 were taken during the Oct. 6 burglary at the Wilton Road store, police Sgt. Edward Hastings said.

Fred Lowell Jr., 22, and Robert Danforth, 47, were arrested after police received information Wednesday about the burglary and obtained a search warrant, Hastings said.

Police found dining-room tables, some still in boxes with Bouffard’s name on them, and bar stools at an apartment building in New Sharon on Thursday where the suspects have apartments. One lives at 47 Main St. and the other is 6 Water St. because the doors to their apartments are on different streets, Hastings said.

Police said the men had used the bar stools.

Seven dining-room tables and five bar stools were taken from storage Oct. 6, store owner James Bouffard said. All were returned to him Thursday, some still in boxes and a couple damaged, he said.

Employees came to work to find Bouffard’s truck had been broken into and tools taken one morning in October. Later in the day, they discovered the storage area had also been broken into, Bouffard said.

Lowell and Danforth were taken to the Franklin County Detention Center on Thursday where bail for Lowell was set at $2,000, unsecured.

Danforth was already on bail from a Nov. 13 arrest on a charge of domestic violence assault, Hastings said. No new bail will be set for this charge.
