FARMINGTON — Marie K. Zimmerman, 91, passed from her home in Farmington into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Nov. 15.

Marie was born in Glenolden, Pa., on April 27, 1921, to Harry and Esther (Kelly) Kreider.

She graduated from West Chester State Teacher’s College with a degree in music. It was there that she met the love of her life, Isaiah “Bud” Zimmerman. They were married on April 15, 1944. They moved several times, while Bud was commissioned as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army during World War II, before taking up residence in Coatesville, Pa., where they lived for over 50 years. “Bud” adored his wife and was always excited to tell everyone that he’d gotten “the prettiest girl in college.” Marie was a very beautiful woman with a sweet spirit and tremendous talent. She had a gorgeous voice and enjoyed using it in the community choir, which Bud directed. For a short time, she taught music at Upland Country Day School in Kennett Square, Pa. She also taught private voice and piano lessons, played the organ at church and sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and VBS. She and Bud were actively involved in the mission’s ministry of their local church. Marie also headed up a Bible study at a nursing home in Pennsylvania.

Marie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to paint and her home was graced with beautiful, framed canvases of the ocean, mountains, birds, flowers, and still-life pictures she had created in acrylics and oils. She loved God with all her heart and spent many happy hours studying the Bible. Her favorite verses were found in Psalm 143:8-10 — “Cause me to hear thy loving kindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee. Deliver me, O LORD, from mine enemies: I flee unto thee to hide me. Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.” Marie would recite these verses every morning for many years as her heart’s prayer to her Savior.

During the last ten years of her life, Marie suffered from Alzheimer’s disease. We could not have taken care of her at home without those who came alongside to help. A huge “Thank you” to Amy, JoAnne, Leslie, Heidi, and Logan, as well as all the wonderful CNAs and nurses from Androscoggin Home Health and Hospice Care and Dr. David Rice and his staff. May God bless all of you for your support, prayers, love and compassion. Her caretakers became special friends, for they truly loved Marie. Also, the family greatly appreciated the ambulance workers from North Star and the doctors and nurses at Franklin Memorial Hospital who were so kind to her.

Marie is survived by her son, Robert; her daughter, Sandi and husband, Brian; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Phillips and her husband, Chris, Rebekah Rebert and Jonathan Rebert; as well as two great-grandchildren, Micah and Elijah Phillips; her sister, Carolyn Pasquarello; nephews Tom Pasquarello (and family) and Rick Pasquarello; and niece, Susan Hoffman (and sons); and a cousin, Laura Peugh.

She was predeceased by her husband, Bud.
