Taylor Brosious, right, and Kendra Sprague, across the table, have Thanksgiving dinner with the Portland Junior Pirates Lewiston Squirt travel team at the American Legion Post 31 in Auburn on Sunday. Seventeen players, along with their parents and coaches, prepared the meal for a group of homeless teens from the Volunteers of America Homeless Youth Transitional Living Program. Each player prepared a dish, including goalie Sean Moore of Lisbon, who cooked the turkey. “The Junior Pirates are very proactive in giving back to their community,” organizer Sarah Davies said. “It means a lot to me that they and their parents are so eager to support us and are so enthusiastic about it,” Brosious said. “We should always appreciate what we have even if it’s not much,” said Boden Dock, a 10-year-old Pirates player from Auburn.
