LEWISTON – Do you remember sitting on Santa’s lap at B. Peck & Co. department store in the downtown and then “fishing” for a special toy?

Museum L-A will bring back those traditions on Saturday, Dec. 8, at its Old Fashioned Holiday Celebration. In addition, the Great Falls Railroad Club will help recreate the model train that was a staple of Peck’s Christmas display.

A celebration highlight will be a “Guess Who?” wall of photographs of youngsters visiting Santa at Peck’s, dating from the 1940s through the 1970s.

“We are delighted at the response we’ve had from the community as the buzz has spread and the photos are pouring in,” Museum L-A Executive Director Rachel Desgrosseilliers said. “We’ll be taking them until Dec. 3, so check your attics.”

PhotoFinish will be at Museum L-A to take photos of children with Santa.

The holiday celebration, from noon to 4 p.m., will also feature some period decorations, a Christmas tree, a Fontanini creche and displays reflecting Jewish, Greek Orthodox and other traditions in Lewiston-Auburn.

Visitors may also check out the museum’s “Power of Music” exhibit and take in an afternoon of music and light refreshments.

Admission is $5; children 6 and younger, free. For more information, call 333-3881, email [email protected] or visit www.museumla.org.
