PARIS — Police Chief David Verrier and Lt. Michael Dailey have tendered their resignations effective next week.
In a surprise move, the Paris Board of Selectmen and acting Town Manager Liz Knox were notified Monday that Verrier will leave Nov. 30 for a new position with the Maine Correctional Facility in Windham as an investigator.
Lt. Daley will leave Nov. 27 to join the Oxford County Sheriff’s Department.
Both men said they were leaving to advance their careers.
Knox said she is currently working with the Board of Selectmen to determine what the process will be to replace the chief on a permanent basis. It is expected that an acting chief will be named on a temporary basis.
Selectman Chairman Sam Elliot said he expects the board will discuss the process at its next meeting on Nov. 26.
