PORTLAND — Portland Ovations has added two events to its 2012-2013 season: a show with audience members as the stars and a performance by a troupe of dancer-illusionists of world renown for its inventive works.

“Sing-Along-A Sound of Music,” featuring the full-length classic film “Sound of Music” with lyrics to every song up on a screen so the audience can sing along, will be presented on Feb. 1 at Merrill Auditorium.

The evening begins with a host leading the audience through a vocal warm-up, judging a costume competition (costumes are highly recommended but not required), awarding prizes and showing the audience how to use their prop bags.

The revolutionary dance company MOMIX will perform its multimedia experience “MOMIX: Botanica,” on May 9. The piece transports audiences to a fantasy world of surreal images and childlike wonder brought to life through athletic dance, riveting music, outrageous costumes, inventive props and pure talent.

Choreographer Moses Pendleton’s whimsical, fertile, and mythical imagination creates a vivid landscape of nature’s changing imagery set to an eclectic score that ranges from birdsong to Vivaldi.

General admission tickets for “Sing-Along-A Sound of Music” are $14. Tickets for “MOMIX: Botanica” range from $30 to $44. Call 842-0800, stop by the box office window at Merrill Auditorium or visit www.portlandovations.org.
