PARIS — The Swingin’ Bears Square Dance Club of South Paris has announced that John Thompson, their former club caller and recipient of the Yankee Clipper Award along with his wife, Judy, at the New England Square & Round Dance Convention in 2012, will call the group’s December annual Teddy Bear Dance at the Oxford Hills Middle School, Pine Street, on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 7 to 10 p.m.
John has retired from calling and this will positively be the last time to hear him call. He is doing this as a favor to the Swingin’ Bears and their club caller, Ray Hilton, who couldn’t make the date and asked him to substitute.
The cuer for the round dancing will be Carol Stewart.
Stuffed toys will be gratefully accepted to be distributed by Right Start for Kids, a program of Community Concepts in the Oxford Hills Area.
Admission is $6 per person. Non-dancers are welcome to come and watch at no charge. There will be door prizes, Pot o’ Gold drawing and refreshments at intermission.
More information about the Yankee Clipper Award may be found on its website and more information about the club may be found at www.squaredanceme.us or by calling Eleanor Herrick, vice president, 207-782-4050.
