The Nealey and Miller store, comprising two-thirds of the block at the southwest corner of Main and Bates streets, was sold yesterday to Ernest Bauer, the baker. The other third is occupied by the George A. Whitney hardware store. The sale also includes a stable on Bates Street, directly in the rear of the store. The Mt. Gile Ski Area at East Auburn will offer free use of its facilities to residents of the East Auburn area for its second season of operation when the ski season gets under way. In addition to the 600-foot top and open slopes, three new trails were prepared during the summer and the access road was rebuilt. The East Auburn Community Unit, which prepared the ski area last year, said that it was primarily developed for East Auburn residents, but the general public is invited to use the facilities at a nominal fee. Officials said the area will operate on the same basis as its opening season, with the tow running on weekends and during school vacations.
