RUMFORD — Black Mountain of Maine and the Chisholm Ski Club have announced a new opportunity in the River Valley through a partnership with Healthy Hometowns for the 2012-13 ski season.
Through this organization, children in grades K-8 will be able to lease cross country ski equipment for the season at a minimal cost.
A “Fit Night” will be held at Black Mountain of Maine at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, so kids can be fitted appropriately.
The skis, bindings, boots and poles that will be leased can be used for both skate and classical techniques, and are available for the winter at a cost of $55 per child.
This can save parents a lot of money from renting weekly or from purchasing equipment, and make skiing affordable.
Parents will need to accompany each child to sign a release and make a payment. Sign-ups will also be accepted for the new cross country program which will be held both weekdays after school at the school and on Sundays at Black Mountain of Maine.
