Cribbage winners listed

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens Cribbage League winners at the Lewiston Memorial Armory on Nov. 21 were: first place, Mickie Farnum and Moe Fournier; second, Don Haley and Henry Maheux; third, Aaron Burke and Gil Cote; fourth, Ron Hynes and Roger Labbe; fifth, Bert Chenard two player table.

Spring course registration

AUBURN — Open registration has begun for all spring semester courses at Central Maine Community College. The spring semester will begin Jan. 14.

Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis for qualified registrants. Registration, payment information and full course listings may be found online at www.cmcc.edu. Those wishing to register for a course but not currently enrolled in a program should contact the Registrar’s Office at 755-5292.

In addition to the Auburn campus, courses are offered at the Western Maine College Center in South Paris, the CMCC/Lincoln County Healthcare Education Center in Damariscotta and several other locations in Oxford and Franklin Counties.

Hebron Academy public skating

HEBRON — Hebron Academy’s Robinson Arena is now open for public skating on Sunday afternoons from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. through March 10.

The cost is $3 for adults and $2 for children age 12 and under. Parking is available in the athletic center lot off Route 119.

Hebron skating sessions are free for children participating in the Maine WinterKids Passport program. The WinterKids Passport offers all Maine fifth-, sixth- and seventh-graders the opportunity to learn and enjoy winter sports with free and discounted tickets, lessons and rentals at outdoor recreation areas across the state. The WinterKids Passport includes 17 alpine ski areas, 22 nordic centers, 13 ice arenas, two tubing parks and even dog sledding. SAD 52 to offer college courses

TURNER — MSAD 52 Adult Education has announced that Central Maine Community College coursework will be offered. Beginning Wednesday, Jan. 16, English 101 College Writing will be offered at the Turner Adult Education Center from 5:30 to 8:25 p.m.

Registration begins Dec. 3 and the cost of the course is $357.60. The class is open to both high school students and residents of the community. Tuition assistance is available to qualified students.

Sabattus Seniors meet Dec. 6

SABATTUS — The next meeting of the Sabattus Senior Citizens will be held on Thursday, Dec. 6, at Maxwell Gill Hall. This will be the Christmas party. Doors will open at 11 a.m. There will be crackers/cheese/pepperoni. There will also be chips and dip, vegetable tray, grapes and chocolate and candy.

At noon there will be a meal of pork, mashed potatoes, gravy, applesauce, squash, mixed green beans with corn and festive cupcakes furnished by the attendees.

There will be a condensed meeting followed by Christmas drawings and members will play pass the buck and Geronimo.

Knights plan holiday ceremony

LEWISTON — The Knights of Columbus Councils of District 11 in Lewiston invite everyone to the Light Up For Christ ceremony being held on Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Holy Cross Church.

The evening will start with praying the Rosary in Holy Cross Church at 7:10 p.m. At 7:30 everyone will be led by the Honor Guard to the Nativity, weather permitting. Carols will be sung by the Men’s Choir until 7:50 when there will be a small prayer service followed by lighting of the manger at 8 p.m.

Refreshments will be served downstairs in the church hall following ceremony. All attending are encouraged to bring canned goods which will be donated to the St. Mary’s Food Pantry on Bates Street.

Lakeside DAR to meet Dec. 11

WALES – Lakeside Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, Sabattus, will meet at the Grange-Masonic Building, 322 Centre Road, on Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 6 p.m. for their annual Christmas potluck dinner. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Everyone is reminded to bring their jokes and/or stories for the program.

The chapter will recess for the months of January and February. The next meeting will be the annual meeting and election of officers on March 12. There will be a potluck supper. Any member of the chapter owing dues for this year or next is encouraged to send their dues to Violet Gerber, secretary.
