FARMINGTON — The Franklin County Chamber of Commerce recognized the top businesses of 2012 at its annual meeting held recently at the University of Maine at Farmington.

The Large Business of the Year Award was awarded to Barclays of Wilton; the Small Business of the Year Award went to the Daily Bulldog of Farmington; and the Non-Profit/Club of the Year Award went to Wilton Blueberry Festival Corp.

In recognizing this year’s Large Business of the Year, chamber President Scott Landry noted that Barclays was named one of the Retail Center of Excellence’s Best Places to Work in Maine.

Franklin Savings Bank and Walmart, both of Farmington, were the nominees as the top large business of Franklin County.

Daily Bulldog was awarded as the Small Business of the Year. In his remarks, Landry said of the online news company that no story is considered too big or small to be covered.

Robin’s Flower Pot of Farmington and Skye Theatre of Carthage each received nominations for the small business of the year.

This year’s Non-Profit/Club of the Year went to Wilton Blueberry Festival Corp., which just recently celebrated its 30th year.

The Healthy Community Coalition and LEAP Inc., both of Farmington, received nominations for top nonprofit of Franklin County.
