LEWISTON — The Lewiston Public Library has announced the next round of meetings for the six new community book discussion clubs which were formed earlier this month. All of the clubs have current openings and are accepting new members.
Each of the book clubs will be meeting monthly at the library. Five of the six are general in nature and will be discussing a variety of fiction and nonfiction titles which will be selected by the club members. One of the groups, the Saturday Afternoon Club, will be focusing on science fiction, fantasy and dystopian fiction books.
Participation is free and open to anyone age 18 and over in the community. Preregistration is required and may be done by emailing the library at [email protected] or calling 513-3135.
The details for each club are as follows:
Tuesday Morning Club: Next meeting on Jan. 15 at 10:05 a.m. to discuss “Sutton,” by J. R. Moehringer.
Tuesday Afternoon Club: Next meeting on Jan. 15 at 2 p.m. to discuss “Team of Rivals,” by Doris Kearns Goodwin.
Tuesday Evening Club: Next meeting on Dec. 11 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss “Maine,” by J. Courtney Sullivan.
Thursday Evening Club: Next meeting on Dec. 13 at 6:30 p.m. also to discuss “Maine,” by J. Courtney Sullivan.
Saturday Morning Club: Next meeting on Jan. 5 at 10:15 a.m. to discuss two books, “Catching Fire” and “Mockingjay,” both by Suzanne Collins.
Saturday Afternoon Club: Next meeting on Jan. 5 at 1 p.m. to discuss “A Canticle for Leibowitz,” by Walter M. Miller.
