AUBURN — Fernande E. Sprague, 97, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 28, at Clover Manor.

She was born Aug. 27, 1915, in Auburn, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Plante Bedard. Fern attended Auburn schools and married George “Jimmy” Sprague Jr. on April 2, 1953. He passed away on Sept. 18, 1977.

She owned and operated Fern’s Beauty Salon in Auburn for several years and in her later years, was a volunteer at CMMC and for Catholic Charities.

Fern enjoyed gardening, spending time with her granddaughter taking long walks at the sea shore, and collecting antiques.

She is survived by her daughters, Gail Roy and her husband, Robert, of Lisbon and Audrey Ouellette and her husband, Thomas, of Sabattus; granddaughter, Julie Roy St. Hilaire and her husband, Scot, of Lewiston; and two great-grandchildren, Alexandrea and Jonathan St. Hilaire.

Fern was predeceased by her beloved brother, Hubert (Rene) Bedard, as the result of the attack on Pearl Harbor during World War II; a sister, Gertrude Bergeron; and a niece, Michelle Leeman.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Clover Manor and at Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice care for the excellent care they provided to Fern.
