FARMINGTON — To celebrate 20 years of philanthropy in Franklin County, the Maine Community Foundation’s Western Mountains Committee awarded a special $2,000 unrestricted grant to the Franklin County Children’s Task Force.
“This exemplary organization, which has received grants from the Western Mountains Fund in the past, is providing outstanding community-building services,” said Tracy Harty, chairwoman of the Western Mountains Committee. “We are pleased to showcase the work of the Children’s Task Force as part of our celebration.”
Since 1992 the Western Mountains Committee has awarded more than $1.3 million in grants to more than 320 projects. This past April, the committee made grants totaling $74,000 to 15 Franklin and Somerset County projects.
The Western Mountains Committee is comprised of local volunteer advisers who partner with the Maine Community Foundation to award grants to Somerset and Franklin county nonprofits and to build charitable resources to serve the region.
