RUMFORD — Mountain Valley High School Principal Matt Gilbert announced Students of the Term at a recent school-wide assembly.
The freshman recipient was Ryley Flynn, freshman class president.
The anonymous teacher who nominated him wrote, “Ryley works hard, has great class participation and is very kind and supportive.”
Flynn was joined on stage by his parents, Greg and Caroline Flynn.
Abby Parent was chosen from the sophomore class and her parents Lisa and Mike Parent met her on stage.
“Abby has a perfect score despite being in the dreaded 8B end-of-the-day class that has 16 boys and only four girls,” Gilbert announced from her nomination paper. “She always gives her best effort on each and every assignment and certainly deserves to be selected for the Student of the Term for first quarter.”
Junior Andrew Boucher represented the junior class and his mother Judy Boucher congratulated him.
According to his nominating teacher, “Andrew is a good student who always seeks ways to ensure his grades are good; more importantly, he is a model citizen who is involved in Student Council. On a more personal note, he has taken a student in our homeroom who is struggling with a personal problem under his wing. He is a great kid!”
Finally, senior Lexi Fryover rounded out the students honored. Her mother Melissa Forbes joined her on stage.
“Lexi has a positive attitude, is respectful of others, always has her homework done, seeks out extra help when needed after school, always helps others and is compassionate to others,” wrote her nominating teacher.
The students received a MVHS T-shirt , a gift certificate for Dunkin Donuts and a free winter-sports pass.
Every nine weeks, teachers at MVHS select a student from each class to honor.
