Mental illness recovery group

LEWISTON — Health Affiliates Maine, in partnership with Community Clinical Services, an affiliate of St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center and the Maine Chapter for the National Alliance on Mental Illness, will offer a Recovery Workbook Group starting on Wednesday, Dec. 5, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in Lewiston.

The Recovery Workbook Group is a 15-week peer support group to help individuals become more aware of the recovery process from mental illness and/or substance abuse.

The goals of this program are to assist individuals to increase their knowledge and gain control over their mental health. People will learn about the nature of stress and build skills to set personal goals and take action to support their recovery through the use of effective coping skills and building natural supports.
