LEWISTON — Since the beginning of its affiliate in 1987, Androscoggin Habitat for Humanity has gone through many cycles, as time passed and the people involved changed. AHFH has just entered a new phase, with a great need. To ensure that Habitat can successfully support the members and families of Androscoggin and Oxford counties, new involvement is needed from community members as additional members for the board of directors.

New board members don’t have to be on the nuts-and-bolts of home construction, though they can be if they wish. The group is looking for new board members who can meet monthly to help guide overall efforts and help attract the people and energy needed to ensure a vibrant, sustainable future for the families served by AHFH.

The group is seeking experienced, capable individuals who care about the housing needs of low income families and about making the community a better place for these hard-working men, women and children. They might be a teacher, a student, a business owner or vendor, a corporate officer, a stay-at-home mom or a retiree. Willingness to give back to the community is what matters.

All referrals are appreciated.

A meet-and-greet will be held after the quarterly board meeting on Friday, Dec. 14, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce, 415 Lisbon St. Meet current board members and learn more about the program. The board meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. and is open to the public.
