CHESTERVILLE — A local man was arrested on a domestic violence assault charge in relation to minor children, Franklin County Sheriff Lt. Niles Yeaton said Monday.

Brett A. Roberts, 48, of Chesterville was arrested on the domestic charge and on a charge of refusing to submit to arrest on Wednesday.

A child called 911 to report the assault, he said.

The man is accused of grabbing one child and pushing him/her to the ground and towel snapping the other, he said.

Roberts struggled with deputies as they tried to handcuff him, Yeaton said.

Cpl. Kenneth Charles and Detective David St. Laurent assisted Brann at the scene.

Roberts was released from jail on Friday on personal recognizance bail and a Maine Pretrial Services Contract. He is scheduled to appear in a Farmington court on Feb. 22, 2013.
