NORWAY — The Heather Pierson Quartet will present “A Charlie Brown Christmas” on Sunday, Dec. 16, at First Universalist Church.

Among the most endearing Christmas tales, “A Charlie Brown Christmas” has proven itself to be an enduring classic. Originally telecast in December 1965, the animated TV special was an instant hit with audiences who connected with “Peanuts” creator Charles M. Schultz’s cast of characters. Though more than four decades old, the story of commercialism run rampant echoes clearly to this day.

The musical score for “A Charlie Brown Christmas, composed by the late Vince Guaraldi, is just as poignant and touching as the story and includes the popular hit “Linus and Lucy.” Guaraldi’s gentle jazz riffs established musical trademarks that, to this day, still prompt smiles of recognition.

Performing with veteran pianist and performer Pierson will be Joe Aliperti on alto and tenor sax, Shawn Nadeau on bass, and Matt Bowman on drums. They will perform the entire “Charlie Brown” Christmas album as recorded by the Vince Guaraldi Trio, as well as other popular Christmas tunes.

The concert will be at 3 p.m. at the church  at 479 Main St. Tickets, $10 for adults/$5 for children under 18, are available at Books N Things and at www.heatherpierson.com.
