FARMINGTON — The Recreation Department is accepting registrations for its 33rd season of Junior Pro basketball.

The registration deadline is Thursday, Dec. 6, for this instructional program for boys and girls in grades two through six.

The Rec Department will stay open until 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 5 and 6, to accept registrations after hours. Registrations are not accepted over the phone.

In this program, players are separated into two divisions, consisting of boys and girls on the same team, to promote balanced competition and equal play opportunity.

All games and practices take place in Bjorn Gymnasium at the Farmington Community Center.

Prior to a Christmas week break, a preseason introductory skills clinic takes place Dec. 8  with a followup clinic and team announcements on Dec. 15. After the break, a preseason scrimmage is planned for Dec. 29.

Regular season games begin Jan. 5 and end with championship games held on Feb. 15.

Division 1 includes children in grades two and three and Division 2 is for grades four, five and six. Division 1 regular games are played on Saturdays at 1:15 and 2:30 p.m.; Division 2 games at 10:15 and 11:30 a.m.

There is a registration fee of $25 charged to all players with an additional $5 fee for participants whose families do not pay property taxes to Farmington. A $25 Youth Sports Team Jersey is used for the department’s basketball and soccer  programs.

Registrations are available at the Farmington Recreation Department in the Farmington Community Center.
