Lewiston Ward Six Alderman Paul A. Couture said last night that he is a candidate for re-election, becoming the first incumbent or aspirant to toss his hat into the 1963 municipal election picture. Couture is one of the city’s strongest vote-pullers and he will be gunning for an 11th consecutive term on the Board of Mayor and Aldermen. Couture, who also is a state senator, found himself with opposition last February when he sought a 10th term on the City Council in the person of former boxing champion Paul E. Labbe. Couture brushed past Labbe with ease, winning by a 573-vote margin. Because of his ability to dispose of political opposition over the years, Couture has scared off many potential opponents and will be just as rough on any opposition in the new race, if there is any opposition.

Bolstered by hot chocolate provided by the Auburn Recreation Department, the little ones and their parents gathered to greet St. Nick and listen to Christmas tunes provided by the Auburn Community Band.
