BATH — “Tudi” Smith Feldman of Poland Spring departed this world Nov. 18, in her 82nd year of life.
Tudi attended the University of New Hampshire and then the New England
Conservatory of Music, becoming an accomplished pianist playing in dance bands and pursuing a life-long interest in music that became an enduring social love throughout her life. Marrying Loren Feldman in 1952, she participated in the operation of resort hotels in Magnolia, Mass., and Poland Spring quickly adapting to the life and wearing the mantle of hotelier. Tudi was known by family and friends as a great hostess who really knew how to throw a party. If your picture with Tudi was hanging in the celebrity bar in the Feldman’s home, you knew you were special.
Surviving family members include, son, Michael Feldman of Brunswick; Michael’s son, Sam Feldman, the father of Tudi’s great-granddaughter, Cara; sister, Anita Greenbaum of Newton, Mass.; nephews, Robert Greene and Steven Greenbaum; and special friend and ex-husband, Loren Feldman of Sabattus.
She was predeceased by parents, Rose and Dr. A. George Smith of Lawrence, Mass.; sister, Alyce Stern, her husband, Chester, and their two children, Lonni and Peter, all of Sharon, Mass.; brother-in-law, Morris Greenbaum of Newton, Mass.; father-in-law, Saul Feldman of Poland Spring; and mother-in-law, Jenny Feldman of Boston.
Many thanks go to Cyndi Robbins, Christine Strout, Dr. Dana Little and the loving and caring staff of Hill House Nursing Home, Bath, for helping her make the journey through failing health with dignity.
The song is over but the melody lingers on.
