FARMINGTON — Franklin Memorial Hospital and Edgewood Rehab and Living Center will hold a mock disaster drill at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, to test their emergency response plans.

People with simulated injuries at Edgewood on Fairbanks Road, which is also Route 4, will be taken by NorthStar ambulance to the hospital.

Other public safety agencies assisting in the drill include Franklin County Emergency Management and Farmington Fire and Police Departments.

“During this time the public traveling on the Fairbanks or Wilton Road will notice an increase in emergency vehicle traffic and should not be alarmed,” Michael Senecal, FMH emergency preparedness coordinator, said. “The drill is expected to last approximately one and one-half to two hours. To decrease public confusion, signs will be posted along these roads warning of a drill in progress.”

The goal of the drill is to test the agencies’ ability to respond and manage an emergency situation. Outside observers will closely monitor these agencies’ abilities to handle several areas of the drill, including overall response, scene stabilization, internal and external communication, and maintaining normal operations.

According to Senecal, steps have been taken to minimize any disruption of services at the hospital and Edgewood.

For more information, contact Senecal at 779-2400 or msenecal@fchn.org or Carol Timberlake, Edgewood administrator, at 778-3386.
