Benefit for Michelle Mason

LEWISTON — A benefit raffle for Scott and Michelle Mason will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Lewiston Parking Garage, corner of Ash and Canal streets. On the fourth level, take the walking ramp to Central Hall. Drawing will be held at 3 p.m.

Michelle Clark Mason, 31, of Lewiston is fighting for her life as she battles Acute respiratory distress syndrome at St. Mary’s Hospital for the past 20 days.

There will be a lot of very nice prizes and baskets to be raffled, along with a 50/50 drawing. Donations may also be made to a fund that has been established at Maine Family Federal Credit Union. No donation is to small.

Quilting classes begin Jan. 15

MONMOUTH — A duo quilting class will be held at Packard Activity Center on Tuesdays from 5 to 7 p.m. from Jan. 15 through May 14. The cost for the 18 weeks is $40. Anyone with an unfinished quilt project who would like to work on that instead is also welcome to attend. Sponsored by United Church of Monmouth upcoming projects.

“Basic Log Cabin” will be for those who have never made a log cabin patterned quilt. It will be necessary to purchase Eleanor Burns’ “Quilt In A Day Log Cabin” book for $15.

“Bears In The Woods” is for those who are experienced and can follow a pattern for intermediate to advanced quilters. Quilt blocks include log cabin, bear paw, evergreen trees and flying geese in 6- or 12-inch blocks. It will be necessary to purchase Eleanor Burns’ “Quilt In A Day Bears In The Woods” book for $18.
