Christopher Schario’s adaptation of A Christmas Carol has been performed as far away as England, the Virgin Islands, Hong Kong, and in many parts of the United States.
However, A Christmas Carol first appeared in December 1993 at The Public Theatre in Lewiston where Schario serves as Artistic Director.
“There’s always something new in the production. This season we have a new Scrooge with actor, Joel Leffert.” said Schario. “He’ll be the 7th actor to play Scrooge for us, a highly coveted role in the industry.”
The play follows the story of Scrooge, a lonely miser, who, through the help of spirits and visions from his past, present and future, becomes a generous human being just in time for Christmas.
Focusing on Dickens’ powerful language, humor, and warmth, this charming version of A Christmas Carol simply and directly tells the story as originally written by Charles Dickens.
Performances are slate for Friday, December 7 at 7 p.m., Saturday, December 8 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Saturday, December 9 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $18 for adults and $5 for students under 18 at all performances. You may reserve your seats for any show at any time by calling 207-782-3200.
