NEW PORTLAND — The Western Mountains Baptist Church will present their yearly Christmas musical on Sunday, Dec. 16. Presentations of “Come Thou Long Expected Jesus” will be held at 10 a.m. and at 4 p.m. Everyone is welcome and refreshments will be served.

Codirector Pam Bare from Kingfield explains that “each year the music is different and more people from the surrounding communities participate, not just people from our own church.” Bare said, “Music is a good way to tell the real purpose for Christ’s birth and why He came.”

This year there are 23 people in the adult choir who will be singing seven songs. Amy Bell from Farmington is the pianist. The narration will be read by Dean Stanley from Strong and sound will be done by Alan Stewart of Kingfield. Planning and practice sessions for the musical began in September. The children of the church will be singing and signing a song.

Brenna Cockerham, director, from Freeman Township said, “I love music and I love the Christmas message. It is so inspiring to pick the music and the message in each individual song. This event is a way for us to share the true meaning of Christmas through music.”

Every person is invited and welcomed to attend. This is an opportunity to relax, enjoy the Christmas season and be among friends and family.
