SOUTH PARIS — Clarise E. Hartford, 73, of Norway went to rest on Thursday, Dec. 6, with her family by her side following a battle with cancer.
She was born in West Paris, July 28, 1939, the daughter of Clair L. and Rena Gladys Collins Ripley. She married John Raymond Hatstat Sr. in 1954. They had four beautiful children together.
She was also married to Linwood A. Westleigh of Bethel and James M. Hartford of Rochester, N.H. She was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, fishing and painting, but most of all she enjoyed her flower gardens and the birds.
She loved visiting at family homes to have a cup of tea. There was nothing she would not do for anyone. She was a giver and always worried about everyone and everything. She never just took time for herself. Her primary focus was being a homemaker.
However, she had to work outside of the home over the years including Bethel Furniture in West Bethel in the 1960s, Davidson Rubber in Rochester, N.H., and C.B. Cummings in Norway.
She is survived by her sons and daughters, John and Janice Hatstat of Norway, Richard Hatstat and Tina Howard of Albany, Juanita and Domonic Roy of Auburn and Oxford and Lisa and Russell Farrar of Norway; four stepchildren, all of New Hampshire, James Hartford, Brian Hartford, Roxanne Hartford and Richard Hartford; grandchildren, Tauleeta and Rick Bunch, Jennifer Ryerson and Alisha Willis, all of North Carolina, Richard Hatstat and Stacy Abbott of Bethel, Zachery Hatstat of West Paris, Karen Hall and Eric Campbell of Sumner, Timothy Hatstat and Angela Holden of Oxford, Jonathan Hatstat of Norway, Howard Thurston and Alyssa Parson of West Paris, Larry Thurston and Courtney Brackett of Norway; a stepgrandchild, Ena Farrar of Waterford; she had one special grandchild, Howard Thurston; and her great-grandchildren, Madison Bunch, Ryan Ryerson, Scott, Christian, Savannah and Ethan Willis, Lillian and Howard Thurston, Haley and Timothy Hatstat, Charlie, Michael and Emily Hall.
She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Merle; her sisters, Gloria, Verna, Gladys and Bernice; and two stepbrothers, Clarence Forest and George Forest.
