AUBURN — It’s “That Time of the Year!” and Community Little Theatre is rolling Christmas, Hanukkah and New Year’s into one big, bright holiday package for two performances on Dec. 14-15.

The show is a fast-paced, tuneful revue featuring 25 original songs. They range from funny, upbeat group numbers that highlight the joys and anxieties of the holiday season to touching ballads about the meaning behind the holidays.

A special attraction for this production is onstage seating at cabaret tables for a limited number of audience members, as well as a few tables in front of the stage. There will be a cash bar.

The cast of five for “That Time of the Year!” includes Adam P. Blais, Michael Litchfield, Eileen Messina, Alice Ruvane and Kristin Thomas.

Blais, who directs the revue, said, “It’s high energy and all music.”

This is the first time the show has been produced in Maine. It debuted off-Broadway in 2006. Lyrics are by the ASCAP award-winning team of Laurence Holzman and Felicia Needleman. The music is by seven composers.

“This show draws the audience right in,” Blais said. “It’s packed with comedy as well as all the emotions that go with the holidays.”

Among the songs are “Rock ’n’ Roll Hanukkah,” “Husband’s Blues,” “You’re the Reason,” “Candles in the Window,” “Holiday Lament,” “Wong Ho’s China Garden,” “They All Come Home for a Spin” and “Country Christmas.”

Blais said “People With Obligations” is a song to which everyone can relate.

The set features giant gift boxes so the performers have a number of levels to work with, and there is a three-member band onstage.

“This show offers audiences something different for the holiday season. It captures the warmth and humor of this unique, interfaith holiday season with fresh songs and it combines three holidays into one musical celebration,” CLT Artistic Director Mitch Thomas said.
